Late Cretaceous
Pteranodontidae
Toothless, crested pterosaurs — flying reptiles, not dinosaurs, and the closest thing the Cretaceous skies had to an albatross. Pteranodon patrolled the shores of the great inland sea that split North America in two, snatching fish from the surface as it soared.
